On February 12, 2002, the trial of Slobodan Milosevic, the former President of Yugoslavia, began at the International Criminal Tribunal for the previous Yugoslavia within the The Hague, The Netherlands. Milosevic was indicted on sixty-six counts of struggle crimes allegedly perpetrated through the Balkan civil wars of the 1990’s, including allegations of genocide and crimes in opposition to humanity. The trial ended without a verdict, when Milosevic died of a coronary heart attack during the proceedings.
